Reception & In Year Admissions

Pilgrims’ Way School Admission Arrangements In-year Admissions Years 1 to 6 Applications for years 1 through to 6 are made directly to the school. To make an in year application please come into the school to complete an in year admissions form. Please also bring along your child’s birth certificate and two proofs of address (please see guidance attached). Your completed application form must be signed by the Headteacher of your child’s current school. Over-Subscription criteria In the event that we are oversubscribed the following criteria will be used by Southwark Admissions to allocate the places to the school.

1. Children in public care (Looked After Children) and children who were looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or became subject to a residence order or special guardianship order).

2. Children with siblings who are already on roll at the school and will still be on roll at their date of entry.

3. Children with exceptional medical, social or psychological needs, where it is agreed by the Local Authority and the Headteacher that these can best be addressed at a particular school.

4. Children living nearest to the school as measured by a straight line from the child’s home to the main school gate. Waiting lists. The waiting lists are held at the school. Each child on the waiting list will be ranked in line with the oversubscription criteria. Any parent/carer wishing to know of their child’s ranking on the waiting list and the criteria that applies to them has the right to be informed should they request this information. Admission into Reception All applications for children starting school in Reception are to be made via Southwark Council e-admission online. We offer additional support to families requiring help when applying through Southwark for Reception school places. Further information about applying for Reception places can be found in the publication http://www.southwark.gov.uk/downloads/download/2483/primary_school_adm issions which can also be downloaded from the Southwark Council Website. Please note, children who already attend our Nursery are not guaranteed a place in Reception. A separate application must be made via Southwark Council e-admissions. Over-Subscription criteria In the event of there being more applications than available places, and after the admission of children with statements of special education needs where the school is named on the statement, places will be allocated by Southwark Admissions against the criteria set out below:

1. Children in public care (looked after children) or children who were looked after but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or became subject to a residence/special guardianship order).

2. Children with siblings who are already on roll at the school and will still be on the roll at their date of entry.

3. Children with exceptional medical, social or psychological needs, where it is agreed by the local authority and the Headteacher that these can be best addressed at a particular school.

4. Children living nearest to the school as measured by a straight line from the child’s home to the main school gate. Waiting lists The waiting lists are held at the school. Each child on the waiting list will be ranked in line with the oversubscription criteria. Any parent/carer wishing to know of their child’s ranking on the waiting list and the criteria that applies to them has the right to be informed should they request this information.
